Grace’s SkillsUSA Competition Trip

Hello! My name is Grace Acosta. I am a senior and will be graduating highschool this year. I spend half of my school day at a normal high school and the other half at another school where I study graphic design. Last month I competed in the SkillsUSA state competition for a t-shirt design that I created.  (I won first place in my class at school which qualified me for the state competition). I created a design, screen printed my own shirt with the design on it and put together a presentation board that consisted of all my design components. At the competition I presented my design to a panel of judges where I was scored on both my design and presentation. My hard work payed off! I got first place in state! The national competitions are the next step, I made it! Nationals are being hosted in Louisville, Kentucky in June. If I win the national competition, my school will recieve a huge donation. The trip to the state competition was completely covered by the school. This is not the case for the national competition however. The cost of the trip is around $1000. The school is able to cover $300 of it.
