I am a graduate student in Washington, D.C. studying history. My goal with this campaign is to start my own website. The truth is, I have a strong conviction that with the right words, Americans could come together to save our democracy. I believe I could express that conviction if given the freedom to do so. The problem is that there is a great divide in our country. There are folks like me, who are not yet proven to be extraordinary, and it appears that we are meant to accept some pittance from an intangible, impenetrable class of decision-makers, those whose decisions guide the future of our nation. Do you feel like they're guiding us correctly?
This other world has fallen deeply into a rabbit-hole of technical expertise, robbing it of the ability to lend voice to the people or properly understand our great national frustration. There are those that control the nation's financial resources, bogged down by a speculative rat-race, by a bottom-line with limitless appetite, whose manipulative tools know no bounds and grow increasingly separate from reality. And there is an intellectual elite, who kowtow to the former and have become powerless in the face of it, who no longer understand what their work is for or how to lead a benighted population.
I am a regular, concerned citizen of the United States. I grew up very poor to parents who were children themselves. I am educated but I am sick of the division between intellectuals and the humble, simple pool of Americans of which I originated and feel deeply answerable to. I have worked for this pittance, tried to find my place within the system, but I will never find funding from this class of elites. In the end, I can't play their game because their game resists any real change, and as a consequence can't be a real lens for the discovery of uncomfortable truths. That is why I come to the people-- of whom my heart and soul are dedicated.
My website, GoodthinkAmerican, will introduce an entire system of philosophy. In the tradition of past philosophers, I will break down humanity to its most fundamental drives, in order to build a path of logic that might lead us to some insights as to where we've gone wrong. This is not meant to be some affirmation of any political stance or tow any party line; this is meant to question everything, in order to find the common ground we should all strive to stand.
