☕️ The project

GoFresh is a vegetarian café/restaurant project, an exchange and sharing space located in Phuket, Thailand. My goals: to introduce delicious vegetarian food to as many people as possible, to awaken the minds and sensitivity of consumers to the condition of animals and to promote concrete aid actions for local populations.

👩🏽 Who am I?

SawadeeKha, I'm Oy, a 36 year old Thai girl living in Phuket. Many persons know me as "French speaking guide". I love my job, which is to share my life, my culture and to make discover the wonders of Thailand to the enthusiastic visitors of the whole world. I was born in the South of Thailand and I grew up in Issan (the rural northeast of the country). I have a fairly heterogeneous background... I worked in the buses, the trains, the cinemas and then in fashion and the web until I found my vocation as a guide. I lived everywhere in Thailand, traveled several times to France until I landed in Phuket, where I work as a guide.

I am really passionate about cooking and gastronomy. As a vegetarian for as long as I can remember, I’m one of the people who think that “loving animals” starts with respecting their existence. I currently have about twenty absolutely adorable cats that I have taken care of and two dogs. My dream is to build a refuge for all mistreated animals and to renew a relationship of love and sharing between man and animal.

🌿 Why GoFresh?

The Covid crisis19 is currently hitting a large number of people in Thailand and around the world. As often, the poorest are the hardest hit!

Here in Phuket, we have had neither work nor income for several months. We have received no real help from the government. Shops, restaurants, hotels and small businesses linked to tourism are crumbling under debt. This situation, unprecedented since the 2004 tsunami, is disastrous for me as well as for thousands of locals, especially when we know that this crisis will take months, even years, to "improve".

How to deal with this situation? We have thought a lot with my friends about what we could do to:

• Survive financially from this crisis.
• Launch an activity which is not entirely dependent on tourism.
• Help people who do not have the resources to cope.

Thus the idea of GoFresh was born. Food is a primary need essential to life. My cooking skills, my love for animals and nature gave me the idea to launch the GoFresh project. I can thus continue to carry out an ethical activity, generate income and help my fellow citizens.

🐶 Why promote vegetarianism?

In recent years, our vision of the world has changed a lot. Vegetarianism is today synonymous with ethics, ecology and health. Out of respect for animal life and the planet, many people cross the course. Being a vegetarian today is a committed choice, no longer a fad of a few resurrected hippies.

My fight, by launching the GoFresh project, is as follows: Undo the preconceived ideas and demonstrate to everyone that eating vegetarian is not only a fabulous taste experience but also a way to play an essential role in the creation of a better world.

♻️ The project GoFresh

GoFresh is a shop/restaurant offering vegetarian dishes, natural drinks, fresh products and organic products. The idea is to serve healthy, organic vegetarian food at affordable prices. Human and ethics are at the heart of the project. The community concept of GoFresh aims to prioritize fair trade and small local producers, offering natural products that respect people, animals and environment.

For example, the eggs, the fruits and the vegetables from small farms in the area. Organic tea is bought directly from farmers in northern Thailand, the coffee comes from a foundation that educates Burmese children.

⚜️ My commitments

• Serve 100% vegetarian food (non-vegan, I use and sell eggs from happy and free range hens)
• Create original menus and offer healthy and balanced meals for vegetarians
• Use organic and quality ingredients
• Select small producers and local partners who promote ethics and ecology
• Use Eco-friendly, plastic-free, biodegradable or recyclable packaging
• Promote vegetarianism through local and online communication
• Use part of the profits to promote local and selfless actions

💰 Budget for the project

GoFresh is a simple and modest project. I intentionally set goals that we can achieve together. We will start with an unpretentious place that we can evolve later. If the donations exceed my expectations, the funds will directly finance first actions with the populations and animals of the region.

💸 How the money is going to be used?

• Rent and security deposit for a small shop
• Legal creation of the restaurant structure and license

• Purchase of some supplies and decorations
• Purchase of raw materials and products
• Packaging and logo

• Concrete actions to help people in great precariousness
