Visit us at http://globalstandardschool.com and our core initiative at http://nationalstandardschool.com. We seek seed funding for the 40+ staff it will require to author the standards and the curriculum. We are willing to share part or the whole of equity. Both NSS and GSS can be scaled to Pre-K – 16.

NSS is old-school logic fused with new-school technology. We represent the next generation of education. To illustrate, one phase of our expansion imagines Global Standards in education. There are none. We can take the lead in this initiative. In fact, we are simultaneously pitching GlobalStandardSchool.com as our next step, scaled to grow as we do.

Global Standard School - World-Class Education for the World. ™

    First Global Standards/Curriculum/School

Global Standard School will be revolutionary in many ways and aligned to exceed the UN Millennium Development and UNESCO EFA/Dakar Framework for Action goals. With development of GSS, together we will meet those 2015 deadlines.

GSS will author then align Global Education Standards to all lessons, meeting or exceeding any local or national standards. None such standards exist but given global trends, they need to be written. We will collaborate with international agencies to develop them, setting the bar as THE Global Standard.

GSS will be a revolutionary 21st century TUITION-FREE school, blending current and emerging technologies for curricula and delivery to students around the world, regardless of location and economics. With solutions as basic as inexpensive tablets, each student will be able to work at their own pace independently or in local clusters with trained facilitators, minimizing logistics.

There will be NO TEXTBOOKS. All content will be digital, accessible for free utilizing solely Public Domain and Creative Commons resources. Even our technologies would reflect this Open ethic in that only Open Source Operating Systems and Applications/Web 2.0 solutions will be employed. Logically, our own curricula will be Open as each course will be additionally available for free to anyone via the The OpenCourseWare Consortium and other Open Educational Resources.

Settings where Internet is limited or non-existent will not limit GSS. Content alternatively will be adapted to a single computer that would serve up lessons to wireless or wired personal devices. GSS will literally reach everywhere.

In the GSS asynchronous environment, feedback will be automated and immediate but most importantly, pertinent and high-quality. We envision a wholly personalized education, each student progressing along their own Individual Learning Plan, some finishing early, some later, but none artificially so. We recognize the importance of human feedback in the classroom but if we are to meet our goals together, we have to think outside the box. We have the plan to make this a viable solution. We recognize the global need for creative solutions for rural areas - imagine the unlimited possibilities everywhere.

GSS will require collaboration between and involvement with stakeholders: facilitators, students, parents and community. Cohesion between stakeholders has lessened over time but if a parent is able to take a more direct role in their child's education, everyone involved will better hold each other accountable. It brings us all to the table with shared yet ultimately personal responsibility. Also, this structure gives parents who prefer to home-school their children a school in a box - just add student. GSS will capitalize on these relationships resulting in benefits that transcend the classroom. We are aware of the work being done around the world to return to such social unity - GSS would be an ideal, central model.

That village school concept offers an opportunity for another innovation, integrating Project-Based Learning. We will employ projects and technologies that make the content real-world and relevant. But we're not playing games - this is rigorous work that enables students to understand their place in the big picture. By seeing how the lessons matter to them today and tomorrow, the students take pride and ownership, personal responsibility.

It will prepare students to be competitive in the Global Economy, offering globally-recognized, Tiered Diplomas: Basic, Honors and Vocational. Students and parents will decide how far they take and how specialized they make their education. Imagine a student graduating high school with a well-rounded education and an academic major and minor with an impressive ACT score to boot - or a vocational major with a related industry certification backing it up. This is the time for a solution like GSS, considering the global, increasing need for a well-qualified workforce.

GSS will have Blended, International Staff of Curriculum Developers: Highly-qualified new & veteran teachers AND career-changers to best address lessons' content and relevance. Working in small group PLCs, Professional Learning Communities, each will collaborate with and challenge the other in the design and revision of curricula. PLCs will challenge each other as well. The resulting content will be the highest quality, rigorous but most importantly, relevant lessons.

English would be one of multiple languages with which GSS curricula would be presented. We propose that the other first languages would reflect students from the BRICS economies. Consider Brazil; a recent article highlighted the increasing dynamic of Americans and other Westerners leaving home to find opportunity abroad. We understand decentralization and those languages emerging in global significance as a result. Ideally, our curricula will be in every imaginable language, but English, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi, and Xhosa/Afrikaans are solid starts. The second development phase would regard the Next Eleven economies and so forth with consecutive phases. It just makes sense, Globally speaking.

    The Plan

Our goal is to see GSS fully developed, open and online, but we designed it to be modular. As initially envisioned and noted on the NSS website, the start-up numbers are well beyond our group's personal grasp. Our idea, in parts and as a whole, is out of the box, so we innovated even the search for partnership. For example, if a suitable partner had the human resources, it would greatly diminish the start-up costs. Development that can begin in a myriad of ways, anywhere, depending on the collaborative plan.

    About Us

We are a Global group of Brick and Mortar & Online Teachers and Curriculum Designers. In short, we see firsthand the need for education reform. We became educators to make a difference but reality dictates there is only so much a teacher can do alone. We wanted a better education for our own children, so we decided to design one. We hope you recognize the unlimited potential of Global Standard School.
