Hi everyone my name is Steve thanks for reading my request.

I have in the past been involved in funding others in their dreams and goals because I felt their idea was worth promoting and would like the product to come to fruition. Although I was contributing to achieve a physical end result and some reward from my investment I had no doubt that what I was doing was assisting others to excel.

Although my plea is somewhat personal and some would say for my own benefit I thought I would try and appeal to you to consider this as a truly worthwhile dream to support.

The Plan

Two years ago my partner and I started planning a pre retirement Overseas holiday to the UK to research my ancestry. We are both of Scottish origin where our ancestors immigrated to Australia to find and build a better life. I have done a lot of research online and via family connections to build an extensive family tree and this has been a driving force behind our interest along with family connections that still reside in Scotland.

This once in a lifetime journey is to take place in July & August 2014 and we decided that this would be the only chance we would have prior to retirement to go. So the plan was to see as much of the Britain and experience as much as we could in the time we had available.

We have over the past 12 months paid for our Flights and Tickets for events that we have particular interest in, including the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

We have non refundable sale airfares and have booked various places to stay and will hire a car to make our way around the country. We have informed relatives we will be arriving and are expected.

The problem

Since we’ve booked and paid for the Flights and tickets to the events over the past 12 months to lessen the burden on the finances and bank balance. But as with all plans and good intentions in a massive hit of bad luck and unforeseen circumstances within the family and personally we have depleted our bank account. We are both determined that we cannot lose what we have already  invested in time, money and personal sacrifice. Everyone I am sure understands and has had these situations in their life and would have liked someone to come along and just assist where needed.

The Fix

This is where you all come in. I am asking for everyone who reads this and identifies with the disappointment when something like this happens opens their heart and assists in some way and even the smallest amount it will all help. Consider talking to friends and suggesting they support us in our pilgrimage back to research our heritage. All it would take is a £10 pledge not even the cost of a meal to secure a place in our hearts.

The Reward

I have setup and will provide a facebook page with the link here to all who wish to follow us on our journey, using it as our daily diary to show my appreciation to the people who helped bring our dream come to life. We would like to think that we could keep in contact with as many people that wish to correspond via the page.
