Our dear friend, Gerry Juan, needs our help. On Saturday, March 10th, he suffered a severe head injury while skateboarding down a hill. From one moment to the next, a fun day doing what he loves turned into this unspeakable tragedy, and every one of our hearts is broken.

After surviving an intense emergency brain surgery, he is recovering at Valley Medical Hospital in San Jose with friends, girlfriend Jaycee, and his family by his side. While he's still unconscious, there are a lot of unknowns. But two things are for sure. The first is that GJuan is a wild and powerful life force to be reckoned with, one that has led all of us by example with his endless loyalty, bravery, and generosity. The second is that when he wakes up, the last thing he should have to worry about is bills. In addition to visiting him, praying, meditating, thinking positive, one important way for us to lift this burden is to help with medical and life expenses needed for his long road to recovery.

We have set our goal at $50K, but anything you can give is greatly appreciated, no amount is too small. The doctors anticipate about a year of recovery, and he will be unable to work. The real goal is to have him covered for this year and longer if he needs it, since he will be busy conquering the challenges caused by this devastating event.

Life brings us to our knees in moments like this. It could happen to anyone, but it's so hard to accept that it happened to Gerry. Not Gerry. He's invincible, cut from a different cloth than most. And while we watch him sleep peacefully from the outside, we're certain that from the inside he's putting up the biggest fight for his life. Probably with "My Sharona" on repeat.

Since the moment he got rushed to the hospital, the halls of the ICU at Valley Med have been over-flooded with members of Team Gerry, reminiscing, crying, laughing, and talking about all the things we're going to do with him when he gets up, and how we can't wait to hear his stories about it. Looking around at all the people who, in these circumstances, have nowhere they would rather be but in this crowded hallway, is a true testament to the person he is.

This fundraiser is another way of showing up for someone who gives and gives and never asks for anything, especially money. While we know we may be in trouble for doing this behind his back, we can't wait to shower him with love, and give him this so he can focus on his recovery. If anyone deserves this, we all know it's him.
