Beginning July 1, 2013 I will be heading to the town of Awutu Bawdwease in Central Ghana, Africa. I will be living here for 4 weeks while I volunteer at the local orphanage and school created by HELP A SCHOOL (HAS). Their mission is to provide for underprivileged children and orphans.
My daily responsibilities at the orphanage will include helping the kids get ready for school in the morning, making beds, cleaning and washing, and helping prepare meals. There will also be opportunities to help out in the school that the orphanage runs. After school is over my responsibilities are to help tutor the kids, organize games, activities and sports, and help the staff in any other ways possible.
The costs of the trip include:
$1,697 program fee (accomodation, meals, airport pickup and transfer, in-country support, etc)
$400 visa, vaccinations, weekly expenses (i.e. bottled water), departure to the airport
I am raising money so that I can do all the things mentioned above and make a difference in Ghanian childrens' lives. In the past I have used my passion for traveling to go other places for fun and for my own personal liking. Now I would like to combine my passion for traveling with my passion for helping others and utilize the opportunity that I have to go to Ghana and accomplish as much as I can within the month that I will be there.
Any donation that you can give will really help! All donation amounts are accepted!
