Jerusalem is about 250kms from Nairobi .A 4 hr drive from the capital city Nairobi in a town called Laikipia lies Segare county
.Segare Mission is the lifeline for Jerusalem. It provides the community with the resources like the dispensary where they receive medical attention for various diseases and ailments such as TB, malnutrition especially for those who are either too old to care for themselves. Segera Mission dispensary caters to the whole community as well as the larger community. They have since rescued 17 orphans who are now part of the Segera Mission Primary school.
Segera Mission Primary School caters to 325 students between the ages of 4-16 years old.Unlike their parent’s generation, they get to have access to 3 wholesome meals a day, they have access to their own reading and writing material, they are taught in well-lit classrooms with engaging and encouraging teachers. They have a different future.
Every day they leave Jerusalem knowing that they will be fed and for a few hours they can be like any other child. Learning and just being a kid. They are aware that from where they come from, they are privileged to be at the school. They maintain a strict discipline and respect for themselves and their property.
The school other than the place where they go to learn, is more than that to these children. It is their glimpse to the world out there. Most have never left Jerusalem, most have never been in a vehicle, seen a city highway, and most have never seen a film and might never be in a film theater. Their connection to the world is in the school and within those books. Education will mean nothing if it cannot be experienced, if it cannot be translated into real life, if it cannot be understood in real time.
We want to give these children one day.Just one day to be immersed in a culturally significant moment, to include them in a celebration of a global triumph, to give them a moment where they are celebrating with the world ,to give them their first super hero EVER.
Jerusalem is about a 4 hour drive to Nairobi we will need to hire 2 buses to carry 120 children and staff.
They will also need confectionery and drinks
Any extra money will be given to Segare Mission to enable it to sustain their services to the community.
