Campaign Story
Uganda is the second World’s biggest host of refugees and currently home to more than 1m refugees from Sudan, South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, Somalia, Rwanda and other countries.
Some of our targets are widows, orphans and others have disabilities as a result of the war
When these women run from the violence in their countries, they left behind all their belongings and carried along their extended families.
They face enormous economic challenges such as the inability to provide basic needs such as health-care, education and food because they have no skills to provide to these needs.
It is against this background that Kandakiaat for women empowerment began this livelihood program to support the urban and resettled refugees as well as Ugandan disadvantaged women.
At Kandaakiat, we teach women skills such as hair dressing, sewing, baking, soap making, candle making and tailoring among others to help them put food on their tables.
The numbers of women joining our training center have increased and we are now faced with the challenge of lack of enough equipment to enable the training.
For 2019 February, we will need the following items;
Sewing machines, fabric and beads for bangles, bags and jewelery creation among other things.
Here is a breakdown of our budget for the things that are lucking
Tailoring training materials
Sewing Machine (5 Machines) $500
Fabric (30 rolls) $500
Beads (30 kg) $300
Bags (30) $200
Facilitator $300
Bakery training
Ovens(3) $900
Power (3months) $150
Home baking flour (9 packets) $150
Buckets (10) $200
Cooking oil (100 $150
Ingredients (Sugar, icing sugar, flavors $50
Containers (5) $50
Blenders (2) $50

I know how hard it is to donate money in our current economic climate, but I argue you to please give what you can....no donation is too small. If we all do just a little we can
