Give my mom back the wind in her hair!

The Story

Three years ago my mom was suddenly diagnosed with diabetics type 1. She was very brave and kept smiling through all the pain and hard changes. We were so proud that my dad and I wanted to give her a very special birthday present.           

She had had a dream for years: to have a very old Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet. Nothing flashy, but she had wanted that for a very long time: discovering Europe, the wind in her hair and forget about everything. We found an old red Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet from 1991 somewhere in Holland. We bought it for her and restored it bit by bit. I've never seen my mom so happy. 

However, last week I had to pick up my sister in Antwerp. My mom said I could use the Cabriolet. When I drove to Antwerp, I got trapped in a major thunderstorm and when I was approaching some traffic lights there was oil on the road. When I hit the brakes the car wouldn't respond anymore and I crashed. I was fine but the car is a total loss. Can't be repaired. My mom was so happy that I was safe and didn't say a word about the car. But, I feel so quilty and I want to get my mom a new one and give her back the wind in her hair. 

What can we do?

I found a complete similar Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet at a dealer for only $ 2500,-. But I just finished university and my savings are only a $ 1000,-. I'm hoping to get some discount, but for the other $ 1000,- I'm looking for your help before the dealer sells it. I would be so grateful and thankful if we can manage this, and I'm sure my mom will be speechless when she sees her new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet with a gigantic bow covered with photo's of you all!
