GIVE ME AN EXTRA DAY OF LIFE

Hello everyone, My name is Ann from Uganda Masindi District with Cathy from US, we are here to fundraise on behalf of AUSTIN SICKLECELL SUPPORT ORGANISATION(AUSSO) a registered Community Based Organisation that takes care of vulnerable sickle cell anaemic children holistically. These children have a daily medication (hydroxyurea capsules) they are supposed to take which costs USD 0.71 per capsule as per the hospital where we treat them from. This means the child must have USD 21.3 every month for just this medication and yet there are other medications they take alongside this capsule. This is a very expensive life for a vulnerable family so as an organisation we’ve been sourcing out funds from the local community to support these children. However, at the age of 18 we are supposed to let these children go because they would have become adults so we encouraged their caregivers to be saving for them some little money that would be given to them as they leave the organisation so that they can be able to start up a small business that will help them to sustain their health. We realised these children are being stigmatised from the different schools where they go to which makes them miss school all the time and hence they end up dropping out of school. Some of these children are not taken to school because their caregivers think they are dying any time so they are not worth any investment but through your support we want to show the world that these children are worth an investment. Our request to you is to help us raise funds so that we can be able to help these children access good medical facilities and to build a resource centre for these children where they can always be meeting as children of the same challenge to learn different skills, encourage one another and build their esteem together. These learnt skills will help them know how and where to invest the money their caregivers would have saved for them. Thank you so much and may God bless you all as you support us.
