give me a chance for new start

So one day I was sitting on my sofa suddenly I heard a big thud outside. I ran outside to see it was my big dog had jumped over the fence making a pot fall over. I looked outside seeing that a truck had already stopped and 4 men with nets jumped out. I tried to yell but it didn't help while they dragged my dog and drove off. Now they demand a 500$ fee for 'Property Damage' while it was my property.
