In 2014 we created KCC (Khmer Crafts Center) an educational center in Baray, Kampong Thom, Cambodia, to help and support Khmer people in re-producing their famous Khmer Silk. This old tradition has been eliminated by the Pol Pot regime. To keep such a project alive, money is of course essential. But another element is crucial: water !

As the dry season is every year a hell (our reserves are empty after 2 months), we need to get water from other places which is problematic and costs a lot of money. However, we succeeded until now!

As additional interested villagers, especially women, continue to join the center, we decided to extend our installations. Unfortunately, due to heavy weather conditions we first couldn’t. Finally, early this year we made it! Tons of soil were moved to the premises in order to prepare the land for more Mulberry trees. But now our funds are out and a pump to extract water and an irrigation system are absolutely necessary to avoid a possible loss of more than 50% of them.

So with this pump, we will have drinking water for all workers during the whole dry season and install the irrigation system to bring water to our young Mulberry trees (the silkworms’ home).

This investment is fundamental to save the trees, to save the whole project.
