Campaign Story
On April 21, 2019, a series of coordinated bomb explosions killed hundreds in Sri Lanka as they congregated for Easter Sunday mass.
St. Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade was the first to be hit by an explosion, followed by St Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya, Negombo and the Zion Church in Batticaloa. There were also explosions at the Kingsbury, the Shangri-La hotel and the Cinnamon Grand.
By 3.30pm, Sri Lanka had faced 8 explosions.
As at 8.20 am on April 22, 2019, 290 were reported dead and 500 injured in the attacks.
Given the death toll, there are multiple people who have lost loved one and the main earner in the family. We tried to support by providing the manpower and some amount of fund. Any support or donations would be greatly appreciated and will 100% go directly to the cause.
In order to increase transparency we would like to formally share the plan for the disbursement of funds.
Funds raised through all your generous donations via gogetfunding.com will be remitted into my account After the funds are received in my account, I will transfer the funds to my family in Sri Lanka who are on the ground and able to assist with purchasing the items needed and distributing to the areas in dire need.
We will be collaborating with a trusted sources to identify exactly what the need is and where the need is however all purchases and distributions will be done by my family.
At this stage, the needs of the families affected are changing daily (as a result of donations from other parties and the varied stages of recovery of patients in hospitals). As such I will be unable to confirm the exact items that will be purchased using the funds. However please see below for a rough list of items we intend to purchase:
