My Name is william adolph and I want to introduce you to Lloyd, an unsung hero in our community. Lloyd is 52 yrs old and homeless, but living in a room at the Warmland Shelter. He has been living on and off the streets since he was 12 yrs old, and has spent his whole life in the Cowichan Valley. He has been sober for 29 yrs. After losing a loved one recently, Lloyd discovered what he feels is his new purpose. Lloyd spends his days cleaning up our community of used needles. We all know there is a current drug crisis on our streets, but he volunteers his time to do something about it. He goes out everyday and cleans hundreds of used needles off of our streets, keeping us safer. Lloyd has also gained the trust of many homeless and at-risk youth, doing all he can to keep them safe.
I wanted to be able to pay Lloyd back for what he is doing for us. He isn’t being paid, this is all done from his heart. What Lloyd needs is a really good winter coat, and a pair of work safe hikers. These items would really help him with his volunteer work, keeping him safe and warm. Any donations received will be used for these items, with the assistance of Rebecca Belcher, the Outreach Coordinator at the Warmland Shelter. Anything extra will also be used for Lloyd, in consultation with him and the shelter. He loves to build model cars and planes. He hasn’t played the electric guitar in years as he doesn’t own one, but he finds it to be a stress relief. Please help me give a little back to Lloyd, for everything he is doing in our community.
