We are raising money for Sulala Society, the only organisation in Gaza that takes care of animals. We started eight years ago feeding the stray cats and dogs and taking care of the wounded ones. Overwhelmed by the many cases, we have always tried to do as much as we can with the little money we have. Sulala runs on donations only, however we try to respond to every call we receive from people who want to tell us about animals in need.
A year ago the municipality gave us a piece of land and were able to create a shelter for stray dogs. Here we are trying to give the dogs a comfortable space where they can live live safe from harm. have round 270 dogs there. The males are separated from the females and the mothers with pups also have a separate space.
It's very cold now in Gaza. The mother dogs in the shelter have vertical barrels to sleep and nurse their babies in.
Recently, somebody called us about a mother dog and her pups who had been crying from cold and hunger all night in the rain. We took them to the vet and made sure they were healthy, and dried them up with a towel.
But when we brought them to the shelter and put them in the barrel, we realised we had to do better for them!
This is why we are looking for support to build wooden houses for our dogs. These are warmer and better quality, a much nicer place for the many mother dogs we have to nurse their pups. We already managed to build two with some money we had, and we made two mother dogs very happy with these. See pictures below!
We need 14 wooden houses, and the cost is $70 per house. We want to get them zinc roofs so the dogs will always be dry. We are hoping to raise $1,000 to pay for this! Thank you so much for your support. Even the smallest amount means a lot!
