Give A Child Her Heart

Dear Friends,

Shenora Amponsah Gyamfi , aged 2yrs 4 mths ( DoB : 17 OCT 2014).

Shenora was born with a heart condition known as Ventricular Septal Defect , VSD. The cost for Total Correction Open Heart Surgery at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is USD 5000 (22,700.0 GHS). The parents have been looking for financial support since she was diagnosed in December 2016 when she was just 6 months old. They came to us late last week.

VSD is a hole in the wall separating the two lower chambers of the heart.

In normal development, the wall between the chambers closes before the fetus is born, so that by birth, oxygen-rich blood is kept from mixing with the oxygen-poor blood. When the hole does not close, it may cause higher pressure in the heart or reduced oxygen to the body. Which is life threatening as the heart and lungs are working harder and the high pressure causes congestion in the arteries of the lungs leading to permanent damage.If the opening is large, the child may breathe faster and harder than normal. Infants may have trouble feeding and growing at a normal rate. Symptoms may not occur until several weeks after birth. High pressure may occur in the blood vessels in the lungs because more blood than normal is being pumped there. Over time this may cause permanent damage to the lung blood vessels.

Shenora needs your help in order to have her life back. All donation received will be used to perform her surgery in order to make her whole again. Put a smile on the face of a troubled who wishes the best of health for her child.
