Hello,

My name is Martha Ausin and I am a teacher from Sydney, Australia. I love my job and I adore working with children. For the last few months, I have been volunteer teaching in Tanzania in the small village of Lyamungo Sinde, Machame Disctrict, Kilimanjaro. I have greatly enjoyed my time wokring here at the three local primary schools - Lyamungo Sinde Primary School, ARI Primary School and Mwowe Primary School.

As Some of you already know, I have used Gogetfinding in the past to raise funds to support the children of Lyamungo Sinde in their education, and thankfully we reached our target. With funds raised, we were able to buy some general classroom resources (books, pencils, pens, readers, dictionaries etc), as well as begin work on the major project of rebuilding the toilets at Lyamungo Sinde Primary School (which should be completed with the remainder of the funds we raised previously). The original toilets where in such a poor and unhygienic condition and the building of the toilets will make the daily school lives of the children at Lyamungo Sinde Primary School so much better.

Another project that has begun, at all three schools, is for the girls who have reached menstruation age. The project provides them with access to the necessary sanitary products, which, without the funding, they would not be able to afford. Instead, the girls would not attend school during menstruation or be left to use whaever they could to protect themselves during this time.

The generosity shown in the initial fundraiser was overwhelming, and made me so proud to know such beautiful and kind-hearted people. However, I am here to ask you for more help. The project for the girls who have reached the age of menstruation, would, of course, ideally be an ongoing project, which means we would need more funds in order to continue this for them.

John DeRonde, founder/director of ABCDreams.org.uk (the charity which is supporting the projects we have managed to launch so far) has also established a connection with the charity known as Days for Girls. Days For Girls, is an international organisation which was estabilished on the principle that every girl in the world deserves education, safety and dignity. They further this goal by helping girls who would otherwise go without access to quality sustainable feminine hygeine and awareness. They accomplish this through both direct distribution with many nonprofits, by raising awareness, by helping other oganisations start their own programs and importantly, by helping impoverished communities start their own programs to supply kits for training.

Days For Girls will be supporting us in consolidating the program we have already started in the village. The funds we raise here will help us to provide, not only general feminine hygiene products for the girls, but also kits (made by Days For Girls) to make a special type of underwear for the girls. If enough money is raised, we also hope to create disposible facilities for the hyiene products in the girls toilets at all three schools.

The hope is that if we can reach our target of $3000 we can continue the project for 2 years. A program such as this will have a huge impact on the lives of the girls here in the village. It will allow them to continue to attend school during menstruation, while maintaining dignity and ensuring they can deal with this time in a sanitary and safe way. These are basic rights which all girls should be able to access.

Any size donation you can manage would be so greatly appreciated. And remember, the minimum is just $1. So please, do what you can, and help us improve the lives of these girls.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
