Dear Relatives, Friends, Colleagues
Gina’s PRIMARY MYELOFIBROSIS has progressed with Leukemia, was diagnosed yesterday, Dec 8, to have leukemia as well. Her Bone Marrow Aspiration test result indicated this with some bleeding. The BMT has been ruled out as of now. Instead the doctors will focus on the leukemia and maintaining her strength. She will undergo an intensive chemo treatment for 7 Days then will stay at the hospital for observation for another 3 weeks. Her platelet and PRBC transfusions will still continue. While knowing the difficulties and risks, Gina has agreed to go through the chemo starting this weekend.
We shall be transferring to NKTI for her medication as required by her doctors.
We started her treatment last Dec. 28, 2019.
Our real hope for Gina is God’s mercy and miracle.
We request your prayers and kindheartedness to help us alleviate our huge medical expenses.
We are praying hard that NO MORE COMPLICATIONS arise during this treatment stage. It will be very difficult for her. Medical procedures will have to be extended.
We are still (on-going) preparing for:
- Platelet availability –Blood Type B+ (our case a Blood Type sensitive);
- Packed Red Blood Cells-15 units per week minimum, can be more
- Financial (Expenses)-The new estimated costing for this is as follows:
The immediately needed CHEMOTHERAPY INDUCTION will be costing us P1,000,000.00 (@ NKTI)
This mat still increase depending on her development.
- She will be needing a lot; estimate 25 Platelet units per week;
- Whether via Apheresis (1 Bag = 6 units) extraction or Random (1 bag = 1 unit)
- We need qualified Donors for this;
- Donors will be scheduled as the Platelet has only 5-Days lifespan freshness.
