Gianna’s Hope

Gianna’s story began in utero when she survived three failed abortion attempts.  Once she was born, Gianna underwent horrific abuse, from her birth family, till age 4.  That’s where we come in, “her forever family.”  We fostered Gianna for 4 years and then adopted her on 12/12/12.  We thought all of her behaviors were from being in the foster program and having hundreds of people making decisions for her life.  We were certain her behaviors would subside once we adopted her and gave her stability, but instead things rapidly got worse.  We had been through 7 different therapists, all who just left us all more broken and confused then before. Gianna had been a part of our family for five years before the horrific truth of her past came raging to the surface.

Gianna was diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder and RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder) from all the years of horrific abuse she had endured.  We have done years of therapy and therapeutic parenting. We have learned and used every technique/therapy that is known for RAD and PTSD, and finally, with the help of our amazing new therapist, Gianna has begun to make some progress.  Still, Gianna continues to struggle in our family. She continues to suffer from the pain and trauma that she experienced as an infant. Her days are hopeless and filled with rage. The pain and destruction that she inflicts on herself and our family daily leaves us all in despair. After many years of praying, we finally have answers, we finally have HOPE!

God has led us to: Changing Hearts Boarding School and Ministries - CHBSM, in North Carolina. This program is designed specifically for RAD girls. The facility is in God’s country. Farm chores, arts/crafts, physical education, school work, worship, Bible study, Equine therapy, and therapy will be part of her daily schedule.  Gianna has been enrolled at CHBSM since November 2013. With God’s help, this program will help Gianna heal from all her past wounds in a non-threatening, therapeutic environment.

The program cost is $2250.00 per month. Only God knows the future and His timing is perfect, but with all the right help in place, we pray that Gianna can finally heal and have the hope of her own “HAPPILY EVER AFTER once and for all!”
