Campaign Story
Danish Bellow
Support the start-up of a local fish farm in Ghana and contribute to the education and work opportunities for the inhabitants of the fishing village of Akosua.
Our school, Coast Bridge Academy is located in the small fishing village of Akosua in Ghana. The village has always made its primary source of income from fishing, but throughout the last couple of years, overfishing and competition from large fishing trawlers has threatened the livelihoods of the locals.
We believe that education is one of the key means of empowering the locals to find alternative livelihoods. Therefore, as part of our ongoing educational efforts, we have decided to start a fish farm, which will help to secure Coast Bridge Academy financially, and create jobs for the inhabitants of the village.
Fish farming/fish hatcheries is one of the most sustainable modes of animal production. Our goal is to involve the inhabitants in the construction of the farm, and thus rethink how local resources can be utilized.
A hatchery pool costs a total of approx DKK 6,000 and will be of great importance for the development of the school and the village.
We are dependent on your donations, and would be very grateful for any contribution - no amount is too small!
All donations will be used solely on the establishment of the fish farm.
