Restoring hope for a South African family
Due to several crippling factors, my family and I are suffering, and we cannot seem to get back up on our feet again. I decided to establish a fundraiser and share a bit about us in the hopes of gathering some support.
First and foremost, the local municipality has cut our electricity off indefinitely due to irregular and insurmountable bills we simply can’t afford to pay.
My family have been in the dark for weeks and have not been able to eat properly – this has occurred before, and luckily, I was able to bail us out with my savings. My elder brother also helped the second time around. Unfortunately, this time there really is nothing we can do to help the family.
To make matters worse, my father and I both lost our jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Luckily, my mother still has her job, but her salary alone cannot support the household after basic expenses, such as fuel and simple groceries, as well as hefty medical expenses for my younger brother.
My younger brother has a chronic condition called cystic fibrosis – a life-threatening condition that damages the lungs and digestive system. He needs to be on oxygen 24/7 and requires a lot of consistent and expensive care – we are extremely concerned about his well-being and future.
On a personal note, I am starting my life all over again after losing my job and my savings. I have a new job, but after all my expenses, I can’t afford anything that may help me further. I had been saving to buy a car but had to use that money to help my family.
Any financial donations would be appreciated during this trying time. We would be so grateful!
