Getting an Intervention Order to STOP family violence

The abuse has been going on for years and because of this, I cannot put my friend's name on this request for assistance. It has had a terrible impact on the children of my friend and their own well being AND the abuse continues to this day. My friend's life has been threatened and again, we are taking up the fight to STOP abuse.

I am helping my friend because victims of abuse need all the support they can get and that involves emotional and financial. To put boundaries in place and attempt to stop the abuse for my friend and their children, we need to go through the court system to get an Intervention Order (IVO). This process requires a Barrister is paid for at the contested hearing. This is so the barrister can do the cross examination so my friend does not have to face their abuser. The court system orders that the parties have a Barrister otherwise they may stand down the case.

Victims of abuse suffer severe stress and anxiety from being worn down. And in some cases, victims of abuse just give up because going through the court system is too hard and the cost too high.

We want the abuse to stop so my friend can get on with their life. Getting the intervention order will mean the abuse can be reported to police whenever it happens. It then becomes a breach and can become a criminal matter. Without an IVO, there is no recourse for the abuser and they continue to destroy the lives of their children and their ex-partner.

My friend is suffering severe anxiety and is contemplating not going through with this as the financial burden is too great. This is where you all come in to the picture. My friend needs financial assistance for the barrister who will need to read over the family court orders, case history of abuse and then prepare the defence in court.
