Getting Abigail to Washington D.C.

Update posted by galeann On Apr 08, 2013

Hi to all who visit this page,,,

I hope I have not done my granddaughter an injustice by doing this. I have never done anything like this before and decided to try and see if I could get some help paying for this once in a lifetime trip for her. I am starting to believe that I should have let her write her own plea for assistance instead I wanted to surprise her and not get her hopes up if this did not work. I should have taken the chance with letting her do it, she truly deserves this. Abigail and her sister came to me at the age of three with alot of issues for being that young. Abigail had been sexually abused and her sister was full of cigarrette burns, my son, thier father was incarcerated and I did not know the mother. I took the mother to court and sued for custody immediatly, she did not even show up. I would tell Abigail every night that I loved her and she would just look at me, it ttok about three months for her to return those words to me and when she did I cried and just held her. They have both come a long way and we have done it just the three of us, trust me it has not always been easy. I want them to break a family cycle and go to college and become young ladies that can take care of themselves and recognize when they are making choices that may potentailly affect their lives. If I was to tell Abigail that she is going on this trip it would bring the biggest smile to those big brown eyes, she so deserves something special to happen to her and to have strangers care about her would truly open a new world to her with her future endeavors of being a giving and caring human being. I feel bad that I have written this all wrong when I see that nobody is donating, if anyone has any advice on how I could change my plea it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and god bless...
