Who We Are

My brother and I are currently receiving emergency un-employment benifits. My brother got out of the United States Marines last april and I was laid off of my job at Planet Aid (a non-profit clothing donation company) this past summer. We both are struglling to find any decent work around us, and we both have families to provide for.

What Has Happened

Shortly after I was laid off i started having engine problems with my truck and I also had the power steering box break. My Brother Jeff, a father of 2 Daughters and me, Rob, father of 1 boy, are hard working christian men and we belive in the old saying "work like a slave to eat like a king". But up here where we live in new england, public transit is non-existant. We just found out that on 12/28/2013 all emergency unemployment benifits will be getting cut off and no further checks will be issued. We were under the understanding that as long as we applied before the 12/28 deadline that we would be all set. It turns out we were wrong. So here it is a week before christmas and we both only have one last check coming to us to last indefinitely. We basically had to cancel christmas for the kids because we now have to stretch this last check until some miracle happens. We both have no criminal history, my brother is a veteran and i am a college graduate. we just got hit with a string of bad luck. The worst part is that i found work for us but it wont start until early april. And we have no funds to fix up the truck and get it running so that we will have transportation. Not to mention we also need the truck for transportation to interviews and job fairs. Our mother is also very ill and slowely dying, she also has no vehicle and has relied on my brother and i to get her to and from her weekly doctors appointments. We have been trying very hard and have been helping eachother out as much as possible but without a working vehicle,my family and I are now hitting a wall and my life along with my families lives are in the hands of god.

How You Can Help

I hate to ask for anyones help, I'm the type that likes to give. So even writing this and asking is one of the hardest things I've had to do, but i have no choice and i need to do it for my family. So any help you can give would be well needed and the most we can do in return for your donations at this time is say a prayer for you and your family. And eventually with your help when i get back on my feet and my brother and i are back to being financially stable we will do our best to return every dollar lent to us. So please, alongwith your donation provide us with contact info so that when the time comes we can return the favor. If you can't help out financially we understand because clearly we are in the same position. Another way you can help is to write or call your local congressman and representatives and ask them not to cancel the emergency unemployment program that is set to end 12/28/2013.
