My great Uncle L/Cpl 4616 Malcolm John Spence  is one of the soldiers identified as one ofthe Lost Soldiers of Fromelles in France.(you can look him up on www.awm.gov.au)Killed in battle on July 20th 1916, the bloodiest battle in Australia’s wartimehistory with more than 5500 Australians killed in a 24 hour period. Malcolm'swhereabouts was unknown for over 90 years until a recent and diligent search beganfor the lost men. With a bit of luck (and a well researched and educated guess)they discovered four mass graves on the edge of Pheasant Wood near Fromelles. The centenary of that tragic battle is July 2016 and I am desperate to take myfamily on a pilgrimage to pay respect to not only my Uncle Malcolm but theother men who fought and fell beside him. Malcolm's family did not know whatbecame of him and they died wondering whatever became of their son, brother andloved one. I wanting to raise funds to take my family (Me, my husband and twodaughters) to represent our family alongside the families of other soldiers toremember and give thanks for the sacrifice these men made. We are a singleincome family and are limited in the ability to raise the amount of capital tomake a trip of this magnitude, it something that is close to my heart, so I amasking for your help to make this dream a reality. I thank you in advance, anyhelp would be gratefully accepted.
