Who am I?
My name is Tawanda Masarira from Chivi one of the most dry rural regions of Zimbabwe. Currently I am staying in South Africa and offer tutorial services to the University of South Africa (UNISA) Distance Education students in the Electrical Engineering Department.
What help could you offer?
I have been offered a golden opportunity to study Master of Science in Instrumentation & Control (with Advanced Practice) at Teesside University as a self-funding student. Due to financial constraints, I am reaching out to you to make my dream, that of my family and the dream of my community a reality. I am requesting your donation towards the funding of my postgraduate studies. Most importantly, after you have done your part, I am requesting you to share this with all your contacts. After all, the African proverb goes: When a man’s beards catch fire, the whole community gathers to douse the flames ( Varume kutsva kwendebvu, tinodzimurana(Shona)).
When should you have played your part?
To take up the study offer I need to make an application for a Study Visa in July 2021. To meet the Study Visa conditions, the first year Tuition Fees and provision for 9 months living expenses need to reflect in my bank account by then. I therefore thank you for bearing this in mind as you send in your valued donations.
Where will my Postgraduate Studies be conducted?
My studies will be at Teesside University because it is one of the United Kingdom’s leading engineering schools and its programme is more affordable with tuition fees at £7,500 a year. It may interest you to know that I have been given a similar offer at Newcastle University (MSc Automation & Control). However, the Newcastle University Tuition per year is £24,300. I know that, together we can make the Teesside University option a reality.
Why should you put your hand to the plough?
While your help will boost my career and directly benefit my family and immediate community, I intend to research the control of smart charging, storage and discharging of batteries used in Renewable energy systems. My breakthrough in that field of study will be a global benefit.
How will your contributions be used?
First Year Tuition Fees: £7,500
Visa Application Fees: £348
Healthcare Surcharge (2-year Visa): £940
Home Office Financial Requirement (£1023 x 9 months): £9,207
Air ticket and travel expenses: £505
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HAND
