My name is Sihle Motsa and I am a writer, researcher who is passionate about arts and visual cultures. In 2019 I completed a Master’s in History of Art from the University of the Witwatersrand. I have since worked as a gallery assistant and contributed articles to the Daily Maverick and authored numerous conference papers. I am currently a Writing Fellow for Restless Infections, a project run by the Institute for Creative Arts at UCT and a contributor the forthcoming publication ATLANTICA: Contemporary Art from Mozambique and its Diaspora. I will be taking up a Lecturing position at Rhodes University, where I will be teaching History of Art and Visual Culture this July. I have also been accepted to the Critical Studies Master programme at the Sandberg Instituut in the Netherlands. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will allow me to foster my critical thinking skills such that I can contribute to Knowledge production in Africa and to promote a thriving art and visual arts community in South Africa. For me to commence study at the Sandberg Instituut I will need 6900 euros for tuition, 6000 euros for accommodation and 2000 euros for travel expenses. Whilst I will be using some of my savings to cover a portion of these costs, I still need assistance to cover the rest. I am a diligent and kind person who will use the expertise obtained to teach and assist artists create sustainable art practices. I would appreciate any and all the support possible. No amount is too small.
