Robyn-Lee has been selected to go out on Rotary Youth Exchange to Belgium for a year from January 2017. This campaign is to assist her family to pay the costs of this extraordinary trip.

Robyn-Lee is a "A" student who is actively involved in her community and regularly works on community outreach programs in the Brooklyn suburb of Cape Town which consists of mainly lower income families.

Below is a plea from Robyn-Lee

My name is Robyn-Lee Clementson and I am 17 years old and I attend Buren High School in Brooklyn, Cape Town South Africa.

I need your help to raise R50 000 by August 2016 in order for me to partake in the Rotary youth exchange program in Belgium.

After a number of interviews, motivational letters, & a leadership camp I was selected to go onto the Rotary youth exchange program in Belgium.

I’ve never left South Africa; I haven’t even flown on a airplane so this experience would be life changing for me. I’m so excited to immerse myself in a new culture, broaden my horizons and learn a new language and travel a world outside of my own.

I love learning and I love school, and I appreciate the opportunity to do so. I’ve had friends, or not necessarily good friends, but people that I know who have dropped out of school to join gangs, be involved in crime, prostitution and drugs. I don’t want to do that so I’ve chosen to focus on my school and to widen my horizons and to take pride in myself and do what I want to do in life.

I live with my mom, my dad and my twin sister Jade and my niece and my nephew.

I will be going away for a year but the longest I’ve ever been away from my parents and my sister is like a week or so.

I’m looking forward to the challenge of being away from my sister and my family because I want to be independent, I want to learn how to be by myself, depend on myself and to do my own things without constantly needing to be with family and friends because when I get older one day and start my own life, move away and start my career I wont be able to always contact them and have them around. Going away for one year is not just for fun and games, but its also a learning experience for me where I’ll gain experience about the world, I’ll find ,myself as an individual.

I am the first person going on the youth exchange program from my school. I just want everyone else to take on this challenge that I am doing and I want them to follow in my footsteps and to just allow them to just broaden their horizons and to experience new things that I’ve experienced and maybe even to experience more.I believe that education is important and that people shouldn’t limit themselves to what they see around them and what they are doing regularly.

I really do need your help in order for me to take part in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program In Belgium and I really will appreciate your contribution.

Thank you
