My name is Nandipha Calana, I am a student at Stellenbosch University studying International Relations majoring in Politics and History. I've been granted the opportunity to go to a United Nations Peace Summit in Thailand next year but the issue is the lack of funding.
I have always been aware of the social injustices that exist within our country and in particular the community in which I live. In high school I made a point of doing my bit through raising awareness of social inequalities within our institution and South Africa at large. As a result, I worked with my fellow students to draw up a social justice memorandum to address those issues which was recognised by the Western Cape Department of Education. I would like to continue my journey in implementing change in society through attending this summit.
The Peace Summit continues the uncomfortable conversations which are vital in the progression of resolving social injustices not only within South Africa but in the world at large. It would be ighly beneficial for me to be a part of the discussions relating to inequalities from delegates from all over the world, as well as having the privilege of networking and learning from the key-note speakers that are part of the summit.
I need to raise a total of R25000 in order for me to secure a position as an official delegate of the summit, the deadline for this payment is the 22nd of November 2019.
I would truly appreciate your contribution that will make this a reality,
