Campaign Story
I never fit well into the system. School left me frustrated. I felt that I wasn't in high school to learn, but rather to be molded into a good, hard worker. The American Dream had little appeal to me, so I dropped out, despite my love for education, to do some soulsearching and learn the way I wanted to learn. Since, I have been houseless, bouncing between friends' abodes, conceiving interesting schemes to "make it" in a world where one cannot make it without following the path laid in front of him.
My best friend Max and I are starting this fundraiser after having a plan to live in an RV fall apart at our feet. We have decided that we need to get out of the limbo that is our hometown in New Hampshire and explore the world before we lock ourselves into the system. We are planning a trip to Japan under an organization called W.W.O.O.F. (World Wide Opportunities in Organic Farming), a series of farmstays around the world that offer shelter and food for manual labor around the farm. We believe that the cultural exchange will be inspiration for Max's artwork and my music and writing. When we come back, we hope to have portfolios and a story that will help us get into higher education.
Thank you for your support,
Cullen Dwyer and Max Norton.
