Get Kayley to Sri Lanka!

Hey everyone! As you may have seen me mention (quite a lot) in July I am going to visit Sri Lanka for two weeks to volunteer. During my time there I shall be volunteering in schools teaching young children English. 

The ability to speak English is of most importance in Sri Lanka however, the level of English teaching in government schools is limited. This is because class sizes are very large and the teachers English speaking skills aren't of the highest standards, resulting in only middle and upper class children being able to afford private English lessons. Therefore, it is no surprise that children from most low-income families speak little or no English. By me going out to Ambalangoda I hope to give the poorer children the same opportunities that the richer families have, so they aren't constantly at this disadvantage, which in turn should hopefully give them a brighter future.

As well as this, during my spare time I hope to volunteer and help in the orphanage. Some of the children at the centres have lost one or both of their parents. Others come from broken families or single-parent families who struggle to provide education and food for their children.

This is where I ask you for your help...

In order for me to go out to Sri Lanka, there are obviously lots of expenses along the way, expenses that as a student can get very high. With your help, I will get to help the young children of Sri Lanka, which essentially means that you too are helping them, as my volunteering will have stemmed from your act of kindness.
