If you are here, you probably know Katie's story already. Katie lives, eats, and dreams triathlon, and makes sure everyone around her does the same. She is encouraging, supportive, and works hard to make sure everyone around her has the same drive and confidence that she has. After training for over a year for Ironman Lake Tahoe, Katie was stopped after the bike due to an aggressive bike cut off time on one of the most challenging bike courses on the Ironman circuit. Although she was initially devasted, she made it her goal to complete another.

Unfortunately, she devoted so much of her time and money to Ironman Lake Tahoe, that it becomes difficult to afford another race. In addition to this, the only way to get into the race she wanted to do from the start, is through a charitable donation. Therefore, our goal is to get Katie into Ironman Wisconsin through the Ironman Foundation, a fundraising arm of the organizaiton.

=========================================

Katie's last remarks regarding Lake Tahoe are seen here:

Sunday did not go as I had hoped or planned. My own plans are unreliable and untrustworthy though (Proverbs 19:21), as I shall never forget there is a greater One (John 3:30). Through the advice I have received in the past few days, I have realized that receiving a physical medal is not always what we should consider an achievement. I eternally appreciate my family and friends for being supportive and allowing me to get to this state of mind. I am my own worst critic, so it was anything but an easy task. I am learning to focus on what I did do that day vs what I did not do. The most important was that I did not quit. I didn’t finish not because of my lack of strength. I didn’t finish not because of my lack of determination. I didn’t finish because of a rule and cut-off time. To be able to say these words reminds me that I am growing from this experience. I am hungry for my 140.6, maybe now more than ever before. I am hopeful and confident that another one out there has my name on it. And on that day, I will earn seven letters, not three.
