Gilly was found wandering the streets of Omodos hungry and abandoned by her human owners. I noticed her happily playing with the local children and initially I thought Gilly was a family pet. On further investigation I discovered that she had no home and she had been dumped in the village to fend for herself. She was living off the kindness of the villagers to feed her. Gilly was dirty homeless with no where to sleep or noone to love her. She came and sat by us after we watched her being bullied by the village kittens in competition for food. We brought her home gave her some food and a warm bed for the night. She had clearly been a house dog as she was happy to come into the house and apart from being a little nervous she soon made herself at home. The next day I gave her a bath and soon discovered that she had some amazing markings and that she was not grey in colour, that was the dirt and general neglect in her coat.

I set about trying to find out who owned her and rather than take her to the local pound where she would have been put to sleep after 15 days I decided to try to find someone who would love her like she deserves to be loved. She is young fit and healthy and after a short facebook campaign descovered a lovely lady who is keen to have her in her home in Grimsby. After a trip to the vet we discovered as is usually the case with dogs roaming the streets in Cyprus Gilly had no owner and no microchip to identify her. Gilly needs a pet passport and a flight to get her to the UK and to forever home hence the idea to try to raise some money towards her costs. In return for 5 rewards I will walk your dog for 1 hour or provide an hour of feeding and fuss for your furry friends within the area of Limassol. £560 is needed to get her a flight and a pet passport.

She really is a special girl, very calm and loving despite her ordeal of living homeless on the streets. She would only bring love and happiness to the family in Grimsby and this campaign aims to unite them.

If you would like more photos of Gilly or ask me anything then please do or look at her page on facebook. Finding Gilly a home.
