Get Clarese to Romania – WGKF Championships 2017

Clarese Lourens is a very talented 8 year old little girl from Cape Town, South Africa with a huge talent for Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate.

In February 2015, Clarese started Karate at the Kinjite Karate Academy and was soon showing Sensei Neels Nagel that “dynamite comes in small packages” isn’t just a saying. Clarese quickly started outshining her peers and fellow competitors and by November 2015 she won Gold at her first tournament. By July 2016 Clarese was raking in the Gold medals at various tournaments and by October 2016 Clarese stepped up and claimed the Kata and Kumite u/9 Titles at the 10th Africa Goju-Ryu Karate Federation Championships, held in Johannesburg. This continental title has qualified Clarese to be the youngest and first u/9 karateka to represent South Africa at the 2017 World Goju-Ryu Championship being held in Bucharest, Romania from 13-17 September 2017. An amazing achievement and honour for such a small girl!

These spectacular achievements have cemented Clarese’s determination and she now has her eyes set firmly on future Olympic glory. The Olympics may be a few years away for an 8 year old, but by attending the World Goju-Ryu Championships in September she will be one step closer in making her dreams a reality.
