My niece Cindy who is like a sister to me is a charming, beautiful and caring young mother of 2 gorgeous kids Kiara and Rodrigo.

On the 4th of November Cindy was rushed to Edenvale hospital with severe headaches and vomiting . After a couple of days she was transferred to Joburg Gen neurosurgical high care ward due to bleeding of the brain. On the 12th November Cindy went in for her first op, Surgeons were unable to continue with the procedure to fix the 2 ruptures and identify the lesion as there was still too much blood and no ICU beds available. Good news post surgery Cindy still has her speech but still continues to suffer from headaches, blurred vision and severe dizziness.

2 long weeks later and Cindy has barely been able to get out of bed, still not seen her kids and celebrated her birthday in hospital. Despite all of this Cindy has remained resilient, positive and eager to start her journey to recovery.

Cindy’s 2nd surgery is confirmed for today 26th November as surgeons are confident they will now be able to repair the 2 ruptures as the blood has resolved and they have an ICU bed available. There is an extremely high fatality risk or long term complications which the specialist have advised can occur with this kind of surgery.

Cindy remains extremely positive and faithful that surgery will be successful tomorrow so she can start her journey to full recovery.

Cindy recently started a great new role with a new company during lockdown, however due to the short time with the company she is not eligible for any sick pay whilst she has been ill and also fell short of required waiting period for medical aid, so she is not on any medical aid.

I am setting up this crowdfund for Cindy as she will need some financial support and a lot of ongoing after care support for her and the kids as she goes through recovery and treatment post the brain surgery.

Non of us know what sort of aftercare she will need at present but a few things I can think of where she will require help as a single mom.

- Nanny to assist with kids

- Carer to assist Cindy

- Medication

- She may require post surgery treatment - Physio, rehab etc

There are a number of other things but can share info if required
