Help me get my dream home

Hi my name is Laura.Trying to finally find/create a home for my son and I. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I recently walked away from a very abusive situation for the better part of the last 15 years. Finances and the stability I didn't have faith in myself to provide is the reason I stayed. He is not my son's father, however that is another whole story. My ex roommate has been extremely emotionally and physically abusive. He separated my shoulder twice. Throw money or lack thereof in my face all the time. Screamed, yelled and talked down to me every chance he could. In an attempt to make up for my son's biological father and for the abuse my son watched me go through at the hands of my roommate, I made incredibly bad financial decisions. I opened one credit card after another to make sure my son never went without. 4 years ago I had $60,000 in debt. I spent the last 4 years struggling to pay that off. I budgeted my money even on unemployment to make sure I could pay every single one of my bills. A few months ago I sold the only thing that was mine, my car, to pay off one last credit card so it wouldn't hang me up getting a mortgage. I also used that money to buy a cheap car. Now that I am able to afford a house, got pre-approval, it's been one obstacle/setback after another. I had to put my dog down days before Christmas because my ex-roommate's family gave him something extremely toxic that shut down his kidneys. The evil in this world knows no limits. I'm here now. Moving on. But struggling to find a house I can afford in this brutal market.Any help at all would be more than greatly appreciated.
