Germiston High School Rowing – Storm Rebuild

Update posted by Nigel Bakker On Feb 03, 2019

And, still more good news.

Additional donations of ZAR 10 000 have been received from the Buffalo Regatta OC and King Edward School (KES). Also, Assumption Convent School Rowing raised ZAR 6000.

This totals an additional ZAR 26 000, (USD 1950)

In addition to the generous donation from RMB, also handed over at the Rock the Boat Regatta yesterday by the SA National Rowing Squad was a Philippe Double. A double that has also been a pair in an earlier life in which many of SA recent medalists have trained.

A huge thank you to them as well.

As Promised, RMB (via Team Power House Trust) have come to the party with a massive contribution of ZAR 100 000. (USD$ 7500). This was handed over at the John Waugh Rock The Boat Regatta yesterday.

Awesome stuff.

Rand Merchant Bank, SA Rowing's headline sponsor, and the Team Powerhouse Trust have both committed their support to the rebuilding project.

In addition the University of Cape Town has been in touch to donate 2 boats. I will post more details once I have them.

Roger Tobler, Tim Hutton and Philemon of Virtual Rowing have also donated a brand new single from their production facilities. I'm told the boat should be ready for the RMB VLC National Sprint Regatta to be held at Germiston Lake next weekend (26/27 Jan).

The response has been unbelievable. Please keep sharing this story. Their challenges only start with the rebuilding...

I rowed for Germiston High 1992-1997 and the boat shed and boats hold very special memories for me. I hope you raise enough to rebuild and come back to rowing stronger than ever.
