Germany Bound- Help Kayleigh Study Abroad Senior Year

Hello! My name is Kayleigh Horn. I am 17 years old. I have been working since I was 16 to save money for college. I recently was accepted to go study abroad in Gemany  my senior year of high school. I will be leaving August 1st 2013 and living with a temparary host family for my 3 week language camp. After the language camp, I will then go live with my permanent host family for the year. While I am with my permanent host family, I will go to school, travel, discover the German culture, and learn the way of life in Germany. I will be there for the whole year, and will be returning July 11th 2014. A man with the Youth for Understanding program came and talked to my German class about the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship. I thought it would be interesting, so I looked at the requirements and sent in all the paper work. I was  surprised and very excited two months later to see the acceptance package waiting for me when I came home from school.  I am going because I believe this is a huge opportunity for me to learn a new culture, and grow as a person. I will be able to live a life I never would have imagined, meet new people, and be loved by a second family. The whole experience of living in a foreign country for a year is a once in a lifetime experience that I will love every waking moment.
