Campaign Story
During December 2020 Gerd Bruns was diagnosed with an Aortic Aneurysm.
Gerd fainted and was admitted to Hospital where the Doctor confirmed that the Aneurysm was leaking.
Gerd was admitted to a Private Hospital here in Namibia, Africa without a Medical Aid or Hospital Plan.
The Emergency Operation was bigger than just the aorta aneurism - it involved an aorta as well as femoral arteries - and an Aortobifemoral bypass was performed.
The Operation was successful. An absolute miracle that Gerd survived this long as the hole in his aorta was as big as a pinky fingertip.
After the surgery Gerd suffered a Heart Failure and had water on his lungs with a slight infection. Currently Gerd is in Critical Care Unit (ICU) recovering from the above and his kidneys are slowly returning to normal.
Without Funds Gerd can't remain in the ICU i.e. in the Private Hospital and will need to be moved to a State Facility with very poor services here in Namibia.
The cost for Gerd to stay in Critical Care is ZAR22000.00 (USD1510) per day. This excludes the outstanding costs of Medication and Doctor Care.
We are trying to raise funds to minimize the financial impact this ordeal has had on Gerd and Annaliese who are both pensioners. And to avoid our Family loosing their House and other possessions.
We thank you for your donation in advance. May god bless you.
