Campaign Story
Help this passionate trail runner and environment advocate finish the UTMB race in Chamonix, France
My name is George G. Javier, a passionate environment advocate and Ultra Trail Runner born in Los Baños, Laguna and graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. In 2015, I was lucky enough to represent the country in the prestigious Mountain Race Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in Chamonix, France. Unfortunately, because of a minor accident I had to withdraw from the race, with only 75 kilometers to go. As I was tending to my injuries I promised myself that I will return and finish the UTMB, not just for myself but for all those who supported me and believed in my abilities.
THIS YEAR, I GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO CONQUER THE ALPS.
Three years later and after completing the required qualifying races, I get another chance to join the UTMB on 27 August 2019. Like before, I will need your help and support to get me there. Finishing the UTMB has proved to be elusive, but remains to be my ultimate dream as a trail runner. However, this time around, I will bring with me my full-fledged advocacy towards preserving our environment, from the mountains to the seas. Finishing the UTMB will help me widen my reach in promoting this advocacy and gather more resources in implementing more organized clean-up activities around the country.
I am again, honored and humbled to be among the few who will represent the country in this internationally acclaimed sports event. Like last time, I will give my all to physically and mentally prepare for this race, but this time, I will be armed with the lessons I learned from my failures in 2015. I am not ashamed to say that I am a repeater, because this will be my edge this time around.
Be assured that every cent will be accounted for and will go towards funding the essentials of my trip (registration fees, flights, accommodation). Thank you very much in advance, and to everyone who continues to believe in me, this race is for you.
