Geo’s Emergency Surgery

Update posted by decemberrainfall On Jun 09, 2013

Less than a week left on Geo's campaign and there is good news on the front. Geo hasn't thrown up in more than a week and in less than a week, he will finally be out of isolation. On the same day his campaign ends, he will be let out.

Please help continue to spread the word, and thank you for those who have donated. We are truly luck to find such generous people in the world.

Two weeks left for Geo's campagin, which is about the same amount of time he has left in confinment. We are keeping him pinned up so long to ensure he does not get another hernia.

Geo is doing well and is not throwing up as much since we switched him to a combination of dry and wet food. He also has a very good thirst drive since reintroducing the dry food.

Thank you so much to all of you who have helped with donations and with spreading the word. We would have had a much harder time helping Geo if it were not for your help. Thank you.

Yesterday we began introducting Geo to dry food again, and he is loving it. So his new feeding schedule, until his weight is back to normal, is 1/3 can in the morning, 1/4 cup dry late morning, 1/3 can in the evening, and 1/4 cup dry at night. In another week or so, Geo will get to leave his seclusion.

Geo got his collar off yesterday, which he was super excited about. He spent most of the rest of the day grooming himself. Geo will spend another 1-2 weeks in isolation to ensure there is no jumping on furniture too soon. This weekend we will be preping the house for his release.

Geo will be able to get his cone off next Saturday, the 25th. Then we'll keep him in his semi-isolation for about one more week, just to be safe. Between now and then, we are going to modify the house so that he will have to use ramps to get onto the beds and couches and will NOT be able to jump.

He hasn't done too much in the way of gaining weight, but he also hasn't lost any, so that's good. Now we just need to figure out why he is still throwing up more often than what is considered to be normal. Thank you for your support!

The best gift I could get from my little fur-baby: It has been several days since Geo has thrown up and the incision his belly appears to be healing very well. In about 10 days we will be able to take his cone off after he goes to the vet for a follow up.

There haven't been updates in a few days because there isn't really anything new to talk about. Geo's continuing as he has been. Please keep sending positive thoughts his way and helping to spread the word. Thank you again for all of you who had supported.

Geo is recovering well. He has kept all of his food down and has only had one tummy upset out the other end. Geo has managed to get his cone off several times, which tells me that he has plenty of energy.

Thank you for all of you who have donated. Please keep sending positive thoughts and help spread the word.
