Background
Generation to Generation is a three time award winning documentary series about the survivors of the Holocaust. However the series is not just another set of films about that period. Each episode is a unique perspective into the lives of survivors, shared by their children and grandchildren, also known as the second and third generations.
As the son of a Holocaust survivor, I know how important it is for us to continue to talk about their experiences during the war, but it is equally important that we understand what happened to them post 1945.
“Eating Pebble Soup” is about the journey of a Holocaust survivor from Greece. His granddaughter will guide us through the obstacles her grandfather navigated from war torn Europe and concentration camps, to finally settling in Florida. This episode is slated for filming in the summer of 2023 in and around Duke University, North Carolina.
Campaign goals:
Each episode of Generation to Generation takes a tremendous amount of financial resources to produce. From travel expenses to production, each episode is a challenge. While the majority of the films are self financed, there is that push we need to help us over the hump, and which is needed to produce a high quality film.
Travel expenses for example take a lot of logistical and financial planning. B and B Productions is a California based company, and as in the case of Eating Pebble Soup, the subjects that we are filming are located in North Carolina.
Once the film is produced distribution and marketing become another item that needs to be crossed off the list. Film festivals, for example charge anywhere from $15 to $100 per submission. The goal with festivals is to generate interest in the hopes that the series will be picked up, and the need for fundraising campaigns such as this, will no longer be needed.
Generation to Generation
Generation to Generation is not a start up project. This is not a film in development or just a thought or idea. This is a working project, with two completed award winning films. One that is currently in post production, and several others in various stages of development.
Generation to Generation is produced by B and B Productions, LLC, in association with Duke Films. The series was created by Thomas Biebers (the son of a survivor) and his wife Teresa Biebers. Located in Riverside county, B and B Productions is strategically located between Los Angeles and San Diego. We are also a short 3 hour drive from Las Vegas.
B and B Productions LLC is up to date on all licenses and regulations to operate in California.
We have added a link to our pilot episode of Generation to Generation. The film runs about 37 minutes.
Conclusion:
Eighty years since the Holocaust began, violent antisemitism remains a threat, as we witnessed at a Texas synagogue not too long ago. It is more critical than ever for us to remember the lessons of the Holocaust and pay tribute to its victims and survivors.
Let us remember that any form of bigotry, hatred, or fear because of race, gender, ethnicity, and religion is divisive and destructive. If we forget, there is a danger of repeating the horrible acts of injustice and cruelty over and over again.
Below is a link to our pilot episode. The film runs 37 minutes long. This installment is about Casimir Bieberstein, a survivor of the Warsaw Ghettos.
