Hi, my name is Liam.Myself and 14 others are doing the c2c bike ride on 29th, 30th and 31st August 2015 and we are looking for as many sponsors as we can for an amazing lady.In January this year, a close family friend very sadly lost her daughter. She was only 24. She battled her illness for many years before she finally gave up her fight.Gemma left behind her two brothers, Liam and Callum who are both devastated. Gemma also left behind the most important woman in her life, her mam, Michelle.Michelle looked after Gemma night and day without any complaining, she put her life on hold to care for Gemma but that didn't matter to Michelle because Gemma was her life.Gemma was 2 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder called Pachy Gyria (smooth brain). This caused many epileptic seizures amongst other things. They became more frequent as time went by but Gemma still came round with a smile on her face.This is where I come into it. You see, I am 19 years old with epilepsy. This is very close to my heart and I want to try and give something back, especially for people like Michelle as unfortunately, after losing a loved one, they are forgotten about.Michelle was unable to have any time off from caring for Gemma as her needs were more complex which needed highly trained staff to look after her. Unfortunately, there weren't always the resources for this.I am hoping to raise enough money to send Michelle on a nice break away in memory of Gemma for the amazing 24 years she cared for her.
