It was a shock when Gaynor Godfrey, my mum and one of the most compassionate and positive people I have ever known got recently diagnosed with stage III oesophageal cancer. On the 21st of April, 2015 Gaynor was sent to Glan Clwyd Hospital for a gastroscopy where she was told she had an aggressive tumour in her oesophagus. Initially Gaynor's GP had been treating her symptoms as acid reflux and as a consequence of this, her diagnosis was delayed by more than 18 months. This late diagnosis has meant that the tumour has become quite large and would now be untreatable in the UK by conventional medical procedures. Gaynor was only offered chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment but she was told that this would only buy her additional time - up to one year.

Since being diagnosed with cancer Gaynor has refused chemotherapy and radiotherapy and has instead been following the Gerson diet and taking a whole host of vitiamins such as B17 she has also been looking into an alternative cancer treatment which is available at 'The Oasis of Hope' Hospital in Mexico. The Hospital has many successful stories from various individuals who have been completely cured from cancer through a treatment program called 'Contreras Metabolic, Integrative, Therapy'. As her daughter I currently feel compelled to set up this fundraising page to help raise some of the medical costs towards her treatment plan; which has been made available to her by Dr Contreras, (Oncologist and Director of Oasis of Hope Hospital). At the moment the residential treatment costs $28,000, excluding flights and insurance.

Psalm 77 says 'You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples'. I believe in miracles and this unique one time opportunity would bring my mum, Gaynor hope, health and restoration. Gaynor is an inspiring person who has spent most of her life as a caring mum looking after my brother Jamie, aged 37, who has profound and multiple learning difficulties and severe epilepsy. She has remained positive and confident in God's grace and healing power even though the last three months have been a roller coaster journey of emotions and turmoil.

On September the 1st, 2015 my mum will be celebrating her 60th birthday and I would love to see her have the opportunity to go to The Oasis of Hope Hospital in Mexico with my dad Steve and be able to receive the whole treatment package currently being offered to her by Dr Contreras. It is a big deal, but I believe with God ALL things are possible.
