Gary’s Pet Care Emergency Fund

On Thursday, March 5th, I helped my sweet Bessie over the rainbow bridge and she is no longer in pain. She fought her battle with diabetes valiantly and I love her and will love her forever. Sleep well my sweet baby girl.

3/9/2015 - Total veterinarian expenses incurred from 2/24/2015 through 3/5/2015 = $1,110.72.

BALANCE STILL DUE 3/9/2015 = $860.72

02/25/2015-Fundraising Initiative Relaunched

Goal: Raise funds to pay current vet bill received 02/24/2015 for Bessie's treatment and hospitalization - TOTAL BILL = $675.51

If by some miracle, I am able to raise even more, it could be used to offset and help pay for the $2,191 plumbing repair and car repairs totalling over $1,100 that I have had to pay within the past six months or so. I am DROWNING in debt and just trying to survive.

Akisa's Comments From Initial Launch of Fundraising Project:

I ran into my friend, Gary, at the theatre where we both work occasionally. Gary is one of my favorite people and any of you that know him know why. He is a bright and talented and kind man that truly always puts a smile on my face even on my worst of days. This night, however, he looked like I did at the end of 2008. We've all had them. Years that do NOT go our way, to say the least. You know- those times where just when you think it couldn't get any worse...it does. But you go on, thinking - as Gary expressed that "it could always be worse".

So to get right to the point, without getting into too many unnecessary details, I found out that the most recent development in his rough year (including a consistent and fruitless job search) was that his dear cat, Sylvia, was extremely unwell and after running up an $1800 credit card bill to properly care for her- it looked as though the next day might be her final (which, unfortunately was the case). On top of this, his other dear pet feline, Bessie, had been diagnosed with diabetes and would need monthly care. I immediately felt that this is one area I could try to help. So after some discussion with Gary, here I am. I am asking his friends and family and anyone willing and able to contribute to the Pet Care Emergency Fund to help Gary get that credit card paid off and hopefully contribute as much as possible to the maintenance of the special food and meds that Bessie now takes (she's doing well with this course of treatment).

I wanted to make this as convenient as possible so that anyone who could even give a dollar or two could do so with the most convenience. I set it up so that there is a minimum goal of $2000.00 which covers expenses so far plus a little extra for this next month's bill for Bessie. It is also set up as an "ongoing" fundraiser so that if we are all able to go above and beyond the minimum goal, then it will help relieve the stress of future care for Bessie. So any and all donations are appreciated. I just figured that we could all pull together to help a friend. All proceeds will go directly to Gary which in turn will go directly to the "pet" debt and care.

I truly appreciate you all and hope you are able to help me make this very feasible goal to help our dear friend, Gary.

It is not my first choice to have to resort to something like this, but am going to based on my dear friend Akisha Rundquist's recommendation. Many of you know already what a challenging year this has been for me, having now been unemployed for over 11 months (with the exception of my two part-time jobs). And more recently have also been dealing with two aging and very sweet cats and their declining health. Sylvia lost her battle recently and Bessie is now receiving ongoing treatment for diabetes. All of this has resulted in a veterinarian bill of over $1800.00 and growing. Akisha has been kind enough to set up a fundraising initiative on my behalf (see link below).

Thanks to all who have contributed so far and also to those sending positive energy my way. It is greatly appreciated!  Approximately 65% of the original target goal of $2000 has been funded so far, even though the link will only reflect 43% currently.  The discrepancy is due to the fact that some friends have requested to send their contributions to me directly, which also alleviates the fees being paid to www.GoGetFunding.com.  That is definitely an option if you would prefer to do so.  My address is:
