Hello! This January I will be departing on a journey to South Africa to work on the Kwantu Private Game Reserve through the Plan My Gap Years Big 5 Wildlife Experience Program in Port Elizabeth. I am currently enrolled at Cape Cod Community College but, in order to take full advantage of this life changing opportunity, have decided to take a semester off from college to stay on the reserve for the full 6 weeks. I look forward to when ill finally be able to transfer to a four year institution and continue my education as an Environmental Policy major but I believe its just as important to get the real life experience so that once I have graduated Ill know what I'm really fighting for. Conservation and sustainability are a huge part of this trip, we will be working to remove any alien vegetation, planting more native species, going on anti-poaching patrols and monitoring the wildlife rehabilitation center as well as the lion, rhino, and Bengal tiger populations. At the same time we will be attending classes learning about Africa's conservation efforts and what the government is doing to help big game reserves such as this one, the more famous Kruger national park and many others. Any money raised is going to go straight to this trip and is very appreciated!
