Gap Medics Internship

I am a Junior at Queens University of Charlotte and I am studying Nursing. I have been blessed with the ability to be a nurse. Along with that I have the desire to travel and help those who have poor health conditions. Before embarking on such a journey I would love to have some experience with it and discern if this is what I am destined to do.

I have the wonderful opportunity to gain this experience through a company known as Gap Medics. They have partnered with hospitals in Tanzania, Central Europe, and Thailand to allow college aged students the wonderful opportunity to live in the country of their choice and shadow a nurse in a nearby hospital. I want to be able to travel to Tanzania, through Gap Medics, and work at a nearby hospital for 3 weeks. This trip will give me just enough of an understanding of what it is like to travel to a different country and understand a little of how different health care systems work. It would be a fantastic learning experience for me!

I ask for you, whether a complete stranger or someone I know, to please keep me in your thoughts and prayers this summer. This is the first time I will travel out of North Carolina without my family and without anyone I know! Although all the safety guards are in place, I am anxious about such an exciting opportunity! I also hope to enlist your help financially support, if you can provide it. As a college student, I already have many bills to worry about and very little spare time to work so I can stay out of my loan debt. Between the cost of housing, food, travel insurance, and the plane tickets, the trip cost more than I am able to pay for. I greatly appreciate ANY amount of money you could donate to help me out!
