Our fellow super mommy Gamze lives in Nairobi with her husband and 7 month old baby. Eager to show her daddy the beautiful places in Nairobi, she sent for him to come visit her. Gamze’s dad arrived on Thursday 5th of September. On the same night of his arrival, he suddenly developed chest pain for which he was rushed to Aga Khan hospital for medical care. Immediately after he arrived the hospital it was concluded that he had a heart attack and was taken for stenting. That procedure alone costed 6500 dollars. Unfortunately upon investigating the heart arteries the doctors came across another major heart artery that is more than 80% blocked and could cause another major heart attack very soon if it was not urgently stented within two days.
unfortunately Gamze's dad does not have travel insurance, and is not insured in Kenya.
The cost came as a shock for Gamze’s family and has put them in a situation where they wanted to opt out of the second procedure and send her dad to the U.K. to complete the treatment.
The doctors advised strongly against that as his condition is considered critical and described the situation as a “ticking bomb” and that he will not be allowed to travel.
Gamze and her husband therefore decided to proceed with the procedure to save her father’s life.
We are our own village of support, and ask you to support Gamze’s family in anyway you can. Whether it’s a little prayer, or any little contribution could go a long way.
Help us send her dad back to the U.K. healthy and with a story to tell about this amazing community we have in Nairobi.
