http://www.howe2celebrate.co.uk Howe2Celebrate are pleased to announce that Denise and Shannell are now members of the committee for Gambian Projects. We are extremely proud of this position and are extremely passionate about our new venture and project. We want to help as much as we can and raise as much money as possible for this extremely poor community who need everyone's help. In November 2015 Shannell and Denise will be arriving in Gambia and donating 3 weeks of our time. While we are there we shall be keeping a journal and a blog to show how much of a difference we can make and hopefully inspire others to help too. Below is a little information on the project, who founded Gambian Projects and how you too can donate. Just by donating 5 pence will help supply a meal for one person or child, so every little helps. If you have any ideas of how you would like to fundraise then please email us at:[email protected] THANK YOU from Howe2Celebrate.
Gambian Projects was established in 2008 by UK teacher Debbie Williams. With support from UK sponsors it provides opportunities for people in The Gambia to improve their lives through education and skills training. They also offer volunteer placements for students or career-break adults wishing to experience real life in The Gambia. The initial development projects consisted of building a classroom/library in the village of Madiana, setting up a play-scheme and banana and vegetable growing projects. Links were set up in the summer of 2009 between Plymouth schools and Madiana. These exciting links are developing into mutually beneficial programmes enabling young people in the two locations to achieve better understanding and communication. Many visitors have come out to The Gambia to volunteer their help with the school and playscheme. In early 2011, Gambian Projects merged with Gambia Link which supports Nema Kunku Community Nursery School in Nema Kunku. A generous donation from the White family of Exeter in memory of their son, Nick, enabled the building of volunteer accommodation and an extension to the school in Madiana in the Summer of 2011. Gambian Projects is a registered charity (1093451) and can accept donations paid into the following account:
Account Name: Gambian Projects
Sort Code : 40-52-40
Account Number: 00021362
Please ensure you sign a Gift Aid declaration for us if you are a UK Tax Payer as this helps us raise more funds to enable us to undertake more projects to help alleviate poverty, improve health and access to education in The Gambia.
